Chinese enterprises seek investment opportunities in Hai Phong

Hai Phong currently hosts 823 projects invested by Chinese enterprises, with total capital exceeding USD 13.2 billion.

In the afternoon of April 22, Member of the Standing Committee of the city Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee Le Trung Kien chaired a working session with the delegation from the ASEAN-China Center and Chinese enterprises, led by Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Center Shi Zhongjun. Attending were representatives from relevant city departments, sectors, and units.

In his remarks, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Trung Kien emphasized that Vietnam-China relations have continued to be consolidated and developed comprehensively in recent times, especially following the State visit by General Secretary and State President To Lam to China from April 14-17. This has deepened the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and promoted the building of a Vietnam-China community with a shared future.

Informing the city's development potential, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Trung Kien stated that since merging with the former Hai Duong Province on July 1, 2025, Hai Phong has gained broader development space. The city now ranks among the national leaders in attracting FDI, with over 1,800 effective projects and registered capital exceeding USD 51 billion; among them, 823 projects from China with total capital over USD 13.2 billion.

Emphasizing special mechanisms and policies under the National Assembly Resolution No. 226, particularly the Free Trade Zone model with superior incentives, the City Vice Chairman affirmed that Hai Phong is accelerating industrial development toward digital transformation, green transition, and innovation; prioritizing high-tech industries, supporting industries, especially semiconductors, AI, robotics, renewable energy, and new materials. The city seeks to strengthen cooperation with Chinese enterprises while expanding connections in culture, tourism, and other fields.
