Cold air mass to move in, bringing thunderstorms to Hai Phong
According to the Hai Phong Hydro-Meteorological Station, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in several areas of the city from the evening of April 16.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that on April 16, northern Vietnam will see sharply contrasting weather conditions, with localized hot weather during the daytime, with temperatures exceeding 35°C in some areas, before a cold air mass moves in from the night, bringing showers and thunderstorms.
From April 17, widespread hot weather will end, and northern Vietnam will turn cooler.
In Hai Phong, the local Hydro-Meteorological Station said the city will be mostly cloudy on April 16. The daytime will remain dry, with periods of sunshine around midday and in the afternoon. However, from the evening and night, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, with risks of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds.
In the central administrative area and around the City Theatre, temperatures are forecast to range from 23–30°C, with humidity at 85–90%.
In the northwestern and southwestern areas of the city, temperatures will be slightly higher, ranging from 24–31°C, with south-easterly winds at levels 2–3. Scattered thunderstorms are expected at night, with a risk of severe weather.
In coastal areas, including Cat Hai and Do Son, skies will be cloudy. Daytime will remain dry with light sunshine in the afternoon, while thunderstorms are expected at night.
Over the Gulf of Tonkin and the Bach Long Vi area, no rain is expected during the day, but scattered showers and thunderstorms may occur at night. Tornadoes and strong gusts are possible within thunderstorms.
Hydro - Meteorological authorities have advised residents to closely monitor weather updates and remain alert to thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in the evening and at night to ensure safety.
