The coastal district of Do Son is strengthening its position on the tourism map, driven by rising international arrivals.

Infrastructure drives growth

In the first quarter of 2026, Do Son welcomed about 1 million visitors, with international arrivals up around 30% year-on-year.

In the golf and high-end accommodation segment, nearly 10,000 South Korean visitors were recorded, making them the largest international group.

At lodging facilities within the Dragon Ocean Do Son International Tourist Area, international stays exceeded 2,000, including more than 1,800 from South Korea, followed by visitors from China and other markets such as Europe, the United States, Australia and Southeast Asia.

The figures reflect not only higher visitor numbers but also a shift towards higher-spending tourists seeking more diverse experiences.

Do Son’s appeal is supported by its coastal location, with beaches separated from industrial zones, helping maintain a clean environment. Years of investment have significantly improved tourism, transport and urban infrastructure.

Large-scale developments such as the Dragon Ocean complex and projects by BRG Group have reshaped the area. Integrated models combining artificial beaches, golf courses, water parks, commercial areas and high-end accommodation are helping extend stays.

Aiming to become an international tourism hub

International cooperation is a key pillar in Do Son’s tourism strategy. In early 2026, Dragon Ocean Do Son and the Korea SMEs and Startups Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement with support from local authorities, paving the way for K-Tourism development.

Beyond attracting visitors, the partnership aims to host international events, festivals, business forums and Vietnam–South Korea trade activities, contributing to longer stays and higher spending.

Nguyen Minh Duc Loc, general manager of the five-star Dream Dragon Resort within the Dragon Ocean complex, said international tourists are increasingly seeking integrated experiences combining nature, entertainment and local culture. Destinations offering diverse ecosystems, coordinated services and convenient connectivity such as Do Son are becoming preferred choices.

Despite the positive momentum, further infrastructure improvements are needed to fully unlock Do Son’s tourism potential, including upgrades to public transport, parking, environmental sanitation and urban landscapes.

International visitors also value local cultural experiences. Traditional events such as the Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival and Dao Dau Festival should be promoted alongside tourism services to enhance visitor experiences.
