Diversifying gasoline and diesel supply sources
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has called for strengthening domestic production capacity, diversifying the sources of gasoline and diesel supply, and developing alternative energy sources such as E10 biofuel, while enhancing storage capacity and risk‑management capability.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the conflict in the Middle East, which has escalated since 28 February, has had a negative impact on the supply of petrol, diesel, and gas fuels. He added that the scale of the shock to supply and prices has surpassed the 1970s oil crisis and even the impact of the Russia–Ukraine conflict, causing major energy disruptions.
In response, the Ministry and the Government developed two operating scenarios for the petrol and diesel market: for the first four weeks of March and for mid‑to‑late April.
According to the Deputy Minister stressed that the supply‑and‑demand and price‑management measures will strictly follow the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Government, and the Prime Minister, ensuring adequate fuel supply, timely price adjustments, and assessment of impacts on people and production, commerce, and consumption sectors.
In fact, the Ministry has advised the Government to issue Resolutions No. 36 and 85 on fuel management, and has coordinated with the Ministry of Finance to propose the Government’s Resolution No. 69/NQ‑CP, dated 27 March 2026, allowing interim disbursement from the 2025 central budget surplus to the fuel price stabilization Fund in order to help stabilize fuel prices.
