In the first quarter of 2026, Haiphong’s Industrial Production Index increased by 14.88% compared with the same period in 2025.

The manufacturing and processing sector continues to be the main pillar of the industrial sector, recording a growth rate of 15.98%.

According to the Haiphong Statistics Office, in March 2026, the city’s Industrial Production Index increased by 36.23% compared with February. The main reason is that February coincided with the Lunar New Year holiday, which resulted in fewer working days and disrupted production.

Entering March, businesses quickly resumed operations and accelerated production to compensate for lost output and fulfill orders.

Overall, in the first quarter of 2026, Haiphong’s Industrial Production Index increased by 14.88% compared with the same period in 2025, reaffirming its role as a key driver of economic growth.

Among the sectors, the manufacturing and processing industry remained the main pillar with a 15.98% increase, maintaining strong and stable growth over the years and contributing significantly to the overall industrial expansion.

The electricity production and distribution sector, after declining in 2025, showed signs of recovery with a 3.1% increase. Meanwhile, the water supply and waste treatment sector maintained a fairly strong growth rate of 3.91%, reflecting stable demand from urban areas and industrial production.

In contrast, the mining sector continued its sharp decline, decreasing by 35.83%. However, thanks to the strong growth of the manufacturing and processing sector, the overall industrial growth remained high in the first quarter of 2026.

Over the past five years, Haiphong’s industrial production in the first quarter has consistently maintained relatively high and stable growth, with a trend of each year’s growth surpassing that of the previous year.
