National Assembly Standing Committee convenes first session
The 16th National Assembly Standing Committee convened its first session chaired by Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, reviewing a number of key issues.
At its afternoon session on April 6, the committee discussed proposed task assignments for the National Assembly Chairman, vice chairpersons and its members. It also reviewed personnel proposals to be submitted to the National Assembly for election, and considered the number and approval of nominees for vice chairpersons of the Ethnic Council, vice chairpersons of National Assembly committees, as well as members of the Ethnic Council and other committees. Other personnel matters were also examined.
Earlier the same day, the National Assembly adopted a resolution electing vice chairpersons for the 16th tenure, with all 496 deputies present voting in favor. Those elected were Do Van Chien, Nguyen Khac Dinh, Nguyen Thi Thanh, Nguyen Hong Dien, Nguyen Doan Anh and Nguyen Thi Hong.
Lawmakers also adopted a resolution electing members of the 16th Standing Committee, with all 487 deputies present voting in favor.
It also approved a resolution electing the chairperson of the Ethnic Council and heads of National Assembly committees for the 16th tenure, with all 493 deputies present voting in favor.
