Traditional festival honoring female General Le Chan 2026 opens
The traditional festival honoring female General Le Chan runs from March 25 to 27 (Lunar February 7-9), featuring vibrant cultural and religious activities.

On the evening of March 26 (Lunar February 8), the Le Chan Ward People's Committee opened the traditional festival honoring female General Le Chan Female - a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.



Before the opening, a solemn traditional procession took place with full characteristic rituals, drawing massive public participation.
And then, the city leaders, departments, sectors, and localities then conducted flower and incense offering ceremony before the statue of female General Le Chan.
After the opening ceremony, the artistic program "Triumphal melody of Female General Le Chan" unfolded in three chapters, featuring performances by art troupes that recreated the image of female General Le Chan and celebrated the unique cultural values of ancient An Bien village, now Haiphong City.

The festival was revived in 2011 and has gradually perfected in scale, rituals, and content. By 2016, it was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage.

This year, the event spans March 25-27 (Lunar 7-9) at Nghe Temple, An Bien Communal House, and Le Chan Female General Monument Square. It features two parts: the ritual section with traditional ceremonies like incense offering, processions; and the festive section with lively cultural and sports activities, including rural market spaces, daffodil contests, human chess, folk games, youth soccer tournaments, badminton, and table tennis, …
