Hai Phong Youth: courageous, creative, and pioneering in development

Hai Phong is proud to be considered the “cradle” of the youth revolutionary movement, the birthplace of the first two cells of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in the country. This tradition places great responsibility on today’s youth cadres, members, and young people—not only to take pride in the past but also to continue honoring it through concrete and meaningful actions.

Imprints of outstanding young faces

On March 24, the Youth Union of Nam Thanh Mien Commune launched a youth project titled “Digitalizing the National Scenic Site of Dao Co (Stork Island).” The project includes three QR code boards installed at convenient locations within the site, enabling visitors to access information quickly and easily on the spot. A highlight of the project is its rich digital content, integrating videos, images, reading materials, and music to create a vivid, multi-dimensional experience. This initiative clearly demonstrates the creativity and sense of responsibility of local youth in applying digital technology to heritage preservation and promoting tourism in the era of digital transformation.

Behind this meaningful project is the contribution of Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hoa, Secretary of the Commune Youth Union. During her four years working in youth affairs, Ms. Hoa has left her mark through many practical initiatives. She initiated five “Lighting Up Rural Roads” projects, raising more than VND 200 million through social mobilization. She also founded a free karate class taught by Youth Union members, which has now developed into the Nam Thanh Mien Karate Clubwith more than 1,000 members of all ages, becoming a widespread community movement promoting physical training.

At the ceremony marking the 95th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, organized by the Central Youth Union, Ms. Hoa was one of four individuals from Hai Phong honored with the Ly Tu Trong Award. Deeply moved and proud, she said the award is a strong motivation for her to contribute even more to youth work and youth movements, promoting the pioneering and leading role of young people in all local activities.

On this occasion, Youth Union organizations across the city reviewed, nurtured, and recommended 3,258 outstanding Youth Union members for consideration for admission to the Communist Party. Among them, young teacher Pham Dieu Linh, Secretary of the Youth Union chapter at Hung Dao Secondary School (Hung Dao Ward), stands out as an inspiring example of a young person living with ideals.

According to Ms. Linh, being recommended for Party membership is a great honor but also a heavy responsibility, as it is only the beginning of a long journey of self-improvement. From her student days at Hai Phong University to her current role as a teacher, she has continuously strived to cultivate moral qualities, strengthen political awareness, and actively participate in Youth Union activities. She has donated blood voluntarily 12 times and taken part in numerous youth competitions and initiatives.

“If I am honored to stand in the ranks of the Party, I will continue to uphold my ideals, constantly study and train myself, set a good example, and contribute even more to my hometown and the country,” Ms. Linh shared.

Inspiring the aspiration to contribute

Building on its tradition as the birthplace of the revolutionary youth movement, over the past 95 years, Hai Phong’s youth have continued to grow stronger, affirming their pioneering role in all fields.

During the 2022–2025 period, Youth Union organizations across the city actively renewed their content and methods of operation, inspiring young people’s aspiration to contribute. Political, ideological, moral, and lifestyle education has been strengthened. Revolutionary action movements such as “Youth Volunteer Campaign,” “Creative Youth,” “Youth Pioneering in National Defense,” and the program “Accompanying Youth in Start-ups and Career Development”have been implemented systematically, closely linked with the city’s socio-economic development and national defense and security tasks.

These movements not only create an environment for young people to grow and mature but also help address practical local issues, earning recognition and high appreciation from Party committees, authorities, and the public. From this vibrant reality, thousands of exemplary young individuals have emerged, spreading a positive image of the dynamic, creative, and compassionate young generation of the Port City.

In response to the peak emulation campaign marking the 95th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Youth Union organizations at all levels across the city are striving to achieve several key targets. These include ensuring that 100% of commune-level Youth Union units implement youth projects or models promoting drug prevention and control in their localities; mobilizing 60,000 lượt đoàn viên, thanh niên to participate in volunteer activities organized by Youth Union and Association bodies; registering 300 youth ideas and initiatives for implementation; supporting five innovative youth start-up projects; and providing assistance to 3,000 disadvantaged children through Youth Union initiatives.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, Secretary of the Hai Phong Youth Union, and President of the Vietnam Youth Federation of the city, emphasized that, proud of the 95-year glorious tradition of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Hai Phong’s young generation continues to devote their energy and enthusiasm of youth, guided by unwavering faith and absolute loyalty to the Party and the nation.

Building on the legacy of previous generations, the youth of Hai Phong remain committed to fulfilling President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings: “Youth must unite, strive to study and work diligently, and move forward.” They pledge to continue studying, training, pioneering innovation, and actively contributing to the construction and development of the city.
