Hai Phong eyes stronger AI cooperation with China’s Guangxi

Hai Phong city is partnering with China's Guangxi Big Data Development Bureau on key initiatives in artificial intelligence (AI).

On the afternoon of March 24, Hai Phong People's Committee Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong chaired a working session with a delegation from China's Guangxi Big Data Development Bureau visiting the city to discuss artificial intelligence cooperation.

At the working session, Hai Phong proposed cooperation in seven key areas: training personnel and AI applications in education; digital content technology and Large Language Models (LLMs) for entertainment media production and smart Vietnamese-Chinese translation tools; AI in medical imaging diagnostics and pharmaceutical R&D; optimizing supply chains, cross-border e-commerce, and smart port management; developing virtual assistants and avatars to promote Hai Phong's heritage and culture internationally; and AI solutions for large-scale farm management and agricultural production.

The two sides also discussed policies to attract investment in high-tech zones, foster connections among innovative startups, and support entrepreneurial communities.

Director of the Guangxi Big Data Development Bureau Zhao Zhigang thanked Hai Phong leaders for their warm reception and praised the city's potential and commitment to new technologies. The Bureau leader also expressed his desire to collaborate on Hai Phong's priority areas.

In concluding remarks, Hai Phong People’s Committee Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong affirmed that Guangxi's data infrastructure strengths combined with Hai Phong's determination would soon yield concrete projects benefiting businesses and residents.

He tasked the Department of Science and Technology as the lead coordinator to work with relevant agencies, aiming for specific proposals and results in 2026. The City People's Committee pledged maximum support and directed departments to closely coordinate with the China’s Guangxi bureau for successful implementation of agreed initiatives.
