Restoring traditional cultural activities at Nghe Temple
This year, numerous traditional cultural activities at Nghe Temple will be restored and organized systematically, helping highlight the festival space rich with cultural identity.
The 2026 traditional festival honoring female General Le Chan will take place from March 25 to 27 at key locations as Nghe Temple, An Bien Communal House, and Le Chan General Monument Square in Le Chan Ward, Hai Phong City.
According to the Hai Phong Museum, the restoration includes well-structured traditional activities at Nghe Temple to enhance the festival's distinctive atmosphere. The ceremonial portion will be conducted solemnly with many rituals, vividly recreating traditional ceremonies tied to the worship of the female general.
Held annually to commemorate General Le Chan's birth anniversary, the event aims to arouse national pride, promote the tradition ‘When drinking water, remember its source’, and honor her contributions as the pioneer who reclaimed the ancient An Bien village, now Hai Phong city.
Through these festival activities, the event promotes the national intangible cultural heritage value of the Traditional General Le Chan Festival while honoring heritage value of Nghe Temple (the national historical-cultural relic site) and An Bien Communal House (the national architectural relic site).
It also provides an opportunity to promote spiritual tourism sites, contributing to cultural tourism development throughout Hai Phong City.
