Scan QR codes to unlock heritage stories
Hai Phong tourism is transforming, using technology to tell millennium-old heritage tales in modern, captivating ways.

Technology meets emotion
One weekend morning at the Nguyen Binh Khiem Temple, a National Special Relic Site in Nguyen Binh Khiem Commune, iretired teacher Nguyen Van Huynh from Hanoi, visiting with his grandson, scanned a QR code at the gate, the Trang Trinh’s life, career, and crisp 3D temple images revealed.
This showcases phase 1 results of the "Digitizing images and commentary at key tourist sites" project by Hai Phong's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It digitally tags 40 prime attractions from urban core to remote islands like Cat Ba and Do Son, contributing to creating a new face for the port city's green economy.
Beyond text, videos for all 40 sites meet strict Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s standards, sharp visuals, cinematic angles, scientific scripts, and professional Vietnamese-English narration.
Completing Hai Phong's Digital Tourism Map

In its latest report, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposes phase 2 on a larger scale: digitizing 460 additional tourism resources. The goal is building a national-standard database, including in-depth fields like capacity assessments, environmental status, and sustainable exploitation potential.
The city Tourism Association chairman Mai Xuan Thang said that Hai Phong aimed to develop ‘Hai Phong Go’ as the city's sole tourism app. Visitors can not only access information but also directly appreciate service quality. This data would enable regulators to monitor and rectify issues promptly, ensuring Hai Phong tourism maintains a professional image for international friends.
