Local government apparatus for 2026-2031 term to come into operations on April 1
The Party Committee of the National Assembly has urged swift personnel preparations so that local governments across the country for the 2026-2031 term can start operations from April 1.

According to the directives of General Secretary To Lam, to enable local governments at all levels for the 2026-2031 term to commence operations nationwide from April 1, 2026, the National Assembly Party Committee requests that the Government Party Committee direct the Government to urgently issue a document instructing provinces and cities to promptly complete the staffing of the People's Councils and People's Committees for the 2026-2031 term in accordance with regulations.
The Provincial and municipal Party Standing Committees must direct their Election Commissions to complete minutes verifying National Assembly deputy election results and submit them to the National Election Council no later than March 18. This will allow the council to announce results and the list of elected 16th National Assembly deputies on March 21.
The Election Commissions at all levels must finalize election summary minutes for People's Council deputies, announce results, and publish the list of elected deputies no later than March 20, 2026.
The People's Councils must hold their first sessions for the 2026-2031 term no later than March 31, 2026.
Previously, the deadline for announcing elected National Assembly deputies for the 16th term and People's Council deputies for the 2026-2031 term was March 25, with the first session of the 16th National Assembly scheduled for April 6, 2026.
