(BHD) - As the market continues to develop, greater attention is being given to building a safe and transparent consumer environment.

Consumers are encouraged to choose reputable retailers.

Tightened controls

Across many retail chains in Hai Phong, stricter measures are being implemented to monitor product quality in order to safeguard consumer rights and confidence.

According to Nguyen Van Vinh, director of GO! Hai Phong Supermarket, all products must meet food safety, legal and quality requirements before being put on sale. Suppliers are required to provide clear documentation on product origin, production processes and quality inspection standards.

The supermarket has also set up a customer hotline to provide support, ensuring that inquiries are addressed promptly and customer rights and satisfaction are protected.

In recent years, authorities have stepped up market inspections to handle violations. In 2025, the Hai Phong Market Surveillance Department inspected more than 600 cases and handled over 530 violations, collecting more than 18 billion VND for the state budget.

Most violations involved trading goods of unclear origin, selling counterfeit products, infringing intellectual property rights, and breaching regulations on pricing and food safety.

Raising awareness

Alongside the role of state agencies and businesses, consumer awareness also plays an important role in building a safe consumption environment. Consumers are advised to keep purchase receipts and product information and report suspected violations related to product quality to authorities or consumer protection organizations.

In response to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2026, the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade launched a campaign under the theme “Information Safety – Trust Consolidation – Sustainable Consumption”. The initiative aims to clarify the responsibilities of organizations and businesses regarding the products and services they provide in accordance with the Consumer Protection Law.

The program also promotes a healthy consumption culture, encouraging consumers to proactively protect themselves in transactions by choosing goods with clear and reliable origins.

Businesses are urged to strengthen responsibility in production and trading, strictly comply with regulations on quality and food safety. State agencies, social organizations and the media are also called upon to intensify communication efforts and strengthen inspections and enforcement to protect legitimate consumer rights.

Building a safe and transparent consumer environment is not the responsibility of any single organization or individual. With responsible businesses, stronger regulatory oversight and smarter consumers, the market becomes more transparent and sustainable.
