Viet Nam enters top 10 global LEED green building markets
Viet Nam, for the first time, has entered the top 10 countries and regions outside the U.S. for LEED-certified projects in 2025.

Vietnam has for the first time entered the top 10 markets outside the US by certified floor area under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building standard, reflecting the growing momentum of sustainable development in the country’s real estate sector.
According to the latest announcement from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), Vietnam ranked eighth among countries and territories outside the US in LEED-certified floor area in 2025. The country recorded about 2.6 million square meters of LEED-certified floor area across 100 projects, surpassing several developed markets such as Sweden and the United Arab Emirates. Two years earlier, Vietnam ranked 28th.
The rise in LEED-certified projects in the nation reflects a structural shift in the real estate market, where environmental performance and operational efficiency are becoming key competitive factors.
Office buildings, industrial factories, and mixed-use developments are increasingly adopting green building certifications to attract multinational tenants, meet ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria, and optimize long-term operating costs.
The growing adoption of internationally recognized green building standards is directly influencing investment decisions in Viet Nam's real estate market. In addition to profitability, investors are increasingly focusing on operational transparency, resource efficiency, and tenant quality when evaluating assets./.
