In just one week, on March 15, elections for deputies to the 16th National Assembly of Vietnam and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term will take place nationwide.

According to a government report, leadership and direction must be strengthened in the run-up to the election day, with close oversight of the implementation of key tasks. Ministries, agencies and localities are required to adhere to plans and schedule, review all remaining tasks, and clearly assign responsibilities. Inspections must also be stepped up.

Election campaigning must end 24 hours before voting begins, in accordance with the law, ensuring that campaigning are conducted in a democratic, transparent and fair manner.

Local authorities are also required to continue reviewing, updating and adjusting voter lists up to the time before voting begins. Particular attention is given to groups such as industrial park workers, students, the elderly, people with disabilities, ethnic minority communities and voters in special areas, ensuring that citizens’ voting rights are fully guaranteed.

Public communication efforts should also be intensified to create a festive nationwide atmosphere for election day, with communication methods tailored to each locality. Authorities are encouraged to expand the use of information technology and digital platforms to mobilize voters to participate fully and in accordance with regulations.

All necessary conditions for election day must be fully ensured and completed before March 10, 2026. Localities are also required to implement comprehensive measures to maintain security and public order, proactively develop response plans for unexpected incidents.

The organization of early voting must be carried out strictly in line with approved plans. Ballot boxes and election documents must be managed, sealed and safeguarded to ensure absolute security until vote counting begins. Contingency plans should also be completed to respond to natural disasters, technical incidents, communication disruptions and security issues.
