2026 Con Son–Kiep Bac Spring Festival opens
A ceremony marking the 692nd death anniversary of Venerable Huyen Quang, the third patriarch of the Truc Lam Zen sect, and the opening ceremony of 2026 Con Son–Kiep Bac Spring Festival officially took place at Con Son-Kiep Bac World Heritage.
On the evening of March 6, at the Con Son–Kiep Bac World Heritage Site, the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City held a ceremony marking the 692nd death anniversary of Venerable Huyen Quang, the third patriarch of the Truc Lam Zen sect, and officially opened the 2026 Con Son–Kiep Bac Spring Festival. Leaders from central agencies and Hai Phong City attended the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Hung said Con Son–Kiep Bac is a land rich in spiritual and cultural significance, closely associated with the history and development of the Truc Lam Zen sect since the 14th century.
In 2025, the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site, affirming the outstanding value of the Truc Lam Buddhist cultural space.
After the opening speech, Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau beat the drum to officially open the festival. Delegates, monks, nuns, Buddhist followers and visitors then offered incense at Con Son Pagoda, marking the start of the spring festival season at the heritage site.
