According to report of the Department of Economics and Investment Management, in 2026, five projects are expected to start work and 27 other ones to be completed.

In the first quarter of 2026, three projects are slated to start: Ninh Cuong Bridge, the Hoa Duyet-Thanh Luyen section upgrade project, and the completion of Cu Mong Tunnel, along with the Cao Bang city bypass project, National Highway 28B through Binh Thuan and Lam Dong provinces.

To date, 134.1/286.1 km have been test-accepted but remain unopened due to safety concerns raised by the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), which has not yet deployed forces. The remaining sections are focusing on completing traffic safety systems (fences, median strips, signs, …), expected to finish before March 15, 2026.

For the five North-South expressway projects under public investment in the 2017-2020 phase (including Mai Son-National Highway 45, National Highway 45-Nghi Son, Nghi Son-Dien Chau, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay), which are basically complete, investors are finalizing test-acceptance procedures. They are projected to wrap up by late February for official toll collection starting March 1, 2026.
