Terminal T2 project advances
At the construction site of the T2 passenger terminal at Cat Bi International Airport, hundreds of engineers and workers have remained on duty, with some sections operating through the holiday to avoid disruption.
The T2 terminal project, invested by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), has a total investment of more than VND 2.689 trillion and covers approximately 23,200 square meters.
Together with the existing T1 terminal, the new facility is expected to help enhance the airport’s capacity to 13 million passengers per year by 2030. Once completed, the terminal is set to improve service quality and expand air connectivity, support investment, logistics, tourism and international trade.
Meanwhile, construction is progressing on the interchange linking National Highway 17B with National Highway 5 and the Hanoi–Hai Phong railway in Phu Thai commune. The project is expected to ease traffic conflicts, enhance road safety and create a new transport corridor for the area.
According to site managers, construction resumed on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, with full engineers and workers from three contractors.

Public investment drives growth target
2026 marks the first year of the 2026–2030 medium-term investment plan. Hai Phong has been allocated VND 39 trillion in public investment this year.
City authorities have identified public investment disbursement as a key driver to achieve a targeted GRDP growth rate of 13%. A detailed monthly and quarterly disbursement schedule has been prepared, with the first quarter aiming to reach at least 25% of the annual capital plan.
The city has identified 31 key projects for implementation in 2026. Around 10 are expected to break ground this year, including the construction of the Ninh Binh – Hai Phong Expressway (CT.08) section passing through Hai Phong and a 9-km section in Hung Yen Province, linking to the Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway with a coastal interchange; the development of the western gateway interchange and the extension of Vo Nguyen Giap Road connecting to Gia Binh Airport; the project on developing Hai Phong in adaptation to climate change; and the East – West urban route... Authorities say accelerating these strategic transport projects will help modernize infrastructure and lay the foundation for sustained growth in the next development phase.
