Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Dispatch No. 16 dated February 21, 2026, on strengthening order and traffic safety to serve the people during the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year Tet holiday. The dispatch was sent to the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Health, Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, and the National Traffic Safety Committee.

According to assessments, over the past 8 days of Tet holiday, functional forces, especially the Ministry of Public Security with the core of Traffic Police, alongside the Ministry of Construction and local authorities, have effectively implemented solutions to ensure smooth and safe traffic. Traffic accidents have sharply decreased on all three criteria compared to the 2025 Tet holiday, with incidents down about 29.5%, fatalities reduced by 66 (equivalent to 24%), and injuries down by 120 (equivalent to 33.8%).

To ensure safety on the last day of the Tet holiday and during the 2026 Spring Festival season, the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Public Security to increase personnel and vehicles for patrols and controls on highways, local roads, and passenger transport vehicles.
