Market becomes bustling again
On the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, the goods market shifted strongly from the holiday lull back to normal operations as distribution channels simultaneously reopened.

According to the Domestic Market Management and Development Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as of the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, the essential goods market has been operating more smoothly, with many major retail chains such as Co.opmart, GO! & Big C, WinMart, Lotte Mart, and MM Mega Market resuming operations at high capacity.
From early morning, goods supplied to the market have been fairly abundant, including fresh food, vegetables, fruits, and essential consumer items. Many early-spring promotional programs have been launched, helping to stimulate shopping demand and maintain positive consumer sentiment in the first days of the year.
At traditional markets, trading activities have also gradually become lively again. Pork, beef, seafood, and vegetables are relatively well stocked. Thanks to proactive preparation of supplies before Tet and favorable weather conditions, the supply of fresh food has been ensured. Some items such as beef and seafood have seen slight price increases in line with the usual post-Tet pattern, but the increases have been minimal and have not caused significant fluctuations in overall price levels.
According to reports from local authorities, total goods reserves for this year’s Tet increased by 10–15% compared to a normal month. At many major distribution enterprises, reserves of certain essential product groups rose by 20–40%. This provides an important foundation for maintaining supply–demand balance during the peak period.
The market stabilization program has been implemented in 34 provinces and cities, with the participation of key enterprises such as Saigon Co.op, Central Retail, and AEON. Stabilized goods account for a significant proportion of supply in major urban areas, creating room for intervention in case of localized fluctuations.
Alongside ensuring the supply of essential goods, fuel management has continued to be carried out strictly, with no recorded cases of unauthorized closures or stockpiling in anticipation of price hikes.
In the coming days, as more retail outlets fully reopen, demand is expected to focus mainly on fresh food and essential consumer goods. With well-prepared supply sources and flexible management mechanisms, the market is expected to remain balanced without any major disruptions.
