On the morning of the second day of Lunar New Year, Nam Trieu Ward in Hai Phong officially opened its Traditional Wrestling Tournament welcoming the Lunar New Year. The event creates a joyful festive atmosphere while preserving national cultural traditions.

The Nam Trieu Traditional Wrestling Tournament is a vibrant cultural and sporting activity during Tet, attracting a large number of local residents and visitors. The event helps safeguard traditional values, strengthen community solidarity, and enrich the spiritual life of local people.

A distinctive feature of the tournament is that there is no fixed list of registered athletes. Participants from the public can sign up directly with the Organizing Committee and compete for prizes.

The competition is divided into two categories: An internal division exclusively for wrestlers in the ward. An open division featuring well-known wrestlers from across Hai Phong and other localities nationwide.

This year’s tournament sees the participation of Hoang Van Nam, a prominent wrestler of Hai Phong sports, who won the national championship title for 14 consecutive years and secured a gold medal at the SEA Games.
