Hai Phong hands over candidate lists for National Assembly and City People’s Council elections

The Standing Committee of Hai Phong Vietnam Fatherland Front has handed over official records and candidate lists to the city Election Committee, including 24 candidates for the 16th National Assembly and 139 candidates for the 17th Hai Phong People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term.

Deputy Secretary Pham Van Lap, on behalf of the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Standing Committee, formally transferred the official minutes and lists of qualified candidates for both the 16th National Assembly and the 17th Hai Phong People’s Council elections (2026–2031 term) to deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People’s Council and Chairman of the City Election Committee Le Van Hieu.

The handover ceremony took place on February 12 at the city’s Political–Administrative Center. The event was co-chaired by Le Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People’s Council and Chairman of the City Election Committee, and Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

Leaders of the City Party Standing Committee, the People’s Council, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Election Committee, the Department of Home Affairs and other relevant agencies also attended the event.

Nguyen Duc Tuan, member of the City Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, reported that all candidates received strong confidence from voters in their places of residence and 100% approval at the third-round consultative conferences.

At the conference, Deputy Secretary Pham Van Lap, on behalf of the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Standing Committee, formally transferred the official minutes and lists of qualified candidates for both the 16th National Assembly and the 17th Hai Phong People’s Council elections (2026–2031 term). Chairman of the City Election Committee Le Van Hieu received the documents.

Earlier the same day, the Hai Phong Vietnam Fatherland Front Standing Committee held third-round consultative conferences to finalize the candidate lists. Delegates unanimously approved the official lists, consisting of 24 candidates for the National Assembly and 139 candidates for the Hai Phong People’s Council, with 100% approval.
