Hai Phong petroleum enterprises proactively secure supply for Tet
Petroleum trading enterprises in Hai Phong have developed stockpiling plans to ensure adequate fuel supply to meet rising demand during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Proactive stockpiling and increased supply
Petroleum is a strategic commodity that plays a particularly important role in socio-economic stability. During the Lunar New Year, fuel demand rises sharply due to increased travel and goods transportation needs of individuals as well as transport service providers across all sectors. From an early stage, key distributors, wholesalers, and retailers in Hai Phong City have synchronously rolled out multiple measures to meet the anticipated spike in demand during the Lunar New Year 2026.
According to Mr. Tang Van Troi, representative of the Petrolimex Hai Duong Branch (Petrolimex Hai Phong One Member Limited Liability Company), the unit maintains a minimum of 20 days’ worth of circulating fuel reserves in accordance with legal regulations. Supply is secured from petroleum depots across the city, enabling the company to remain proactive in any arising situation.
In addition to focusing on stockpiling, Petrolimex Hai Duong has required its affiliated stores, agents, and franchise dealers to develop detailed supply plans tailored to the characteristics of each area and traffic route. The goal is to absolutely prevent shortages or disruptions in retail operations before, during, and after Tet.
PVOIL Hai Phong Petroleum Joint Stock Company has also taken early action. A representative of PVOIL Hai Phong said the company has developed a supply plan with projected output increasing by about 150% compared to normal days. At the same time, the company has strengthened storage at its depots, arranged sufficient personnel and vehicles, and organized round-the-clock operations throughout Tet at retail outlets to ensure stable and uninterrupted supply, effectively serving the travel, production, and business needs of residents and enterprises.
According to a representative of Hai Duong Petroleum Materials Joint Stock Company, the enterprise has also prepared a large-scale stockpiling plan. From now until the Lunar New Year, it plans to store approximately 8.6 million liters of gasoline and 13 million liters of diesel. This reserve volume is considered substantial, contributing significantly to market stabilization and limiting supply–demand fluctuations during the Tet peak period.
Strengthening management to prevent retail disruptions
Alongside the proactive efforts of enterprises, the management and coordination role of authorities has also been strengthened to ensure the fuel market operates stably and smoothly. The Department of Industry and Trade has issued a directive requiring petroleum businesses in the city to proactively secure supply to promptly serve production, business activities, and consumer demand.
Accordingly, retail fuel outlets must maintain continuous sales operations without interruption and strictly comply with the registered opening hours submitted to the Department of Industry and Trade. In particular, the department emphasized that there must be no token sales or unjustified suspension of operations, especially in the period before, during, and after the Tet Nguyen dan holiday.
According to a report from the Department of Industry and Trade, Hai Phong City currently has 10 major petroleum depots with a total storage capacity of up to 467,400 cubic meters; two key fuel wholesalers, 16 distributors, and 493 retail fuel outlets. This synchronized infrastructure system serves as an important foundation to ensure stable and uninterrupted fuel supply at all times, particularly during holidays and Tet.
With proactive and well-prepared plans by enterprises, along with close supervision by state management agencies, fuel supply assurance for the Lunar New Year 2026 in Hai Phong City is expected to be safe and seamless. This will help stabilize the market, effectively meet the travel, production, and business needs of residents and enterprises, and create favorable momentum for socio-economic development from the very first days of the new year.
