Promptly addressing challenges in election preparations
In January, the City Election Commission established 10 inspection teams to review preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, promptly handling emerging issues and ensuring strict compliance with regulations.

Resolving Obstacles
Inspection findings indicated that, alongside positive progress, several operational challenges arose during implementation. These issues were reported by local authorities and timely addressed. According to Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Kinh Mon Ward Nguyen Vy, this election marks an expanded application of digital technology. During the initial rollout of election-support software, several localities encountered difficulties related to network connectivity and technical equipment. Kinh Mon Ward has proposed that the city consider providing additional computers, printers, and related devices to meet information technology requirements.
During inspection visits to review election preparations in Kinh Mon Ward and several other localities, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Member of the City Election Commission, and Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Vu Tien Phung noted that by the end of January 2026 the City Election Commission had deployed software for managing candidate dossiers for National Assembly and People’s Council elections, along with specialized election information systems. The city public security are currently reviewing and ensuring information security for computer systems used by agencies, units, and local authorities.
For the Bach Long Vi special administrative zone, located about 120 nautical miles from the mainland, the City Party Committee’s Election Steering Committee agreed at its January 30, 2026 meeting to hold early voting one day ahead of schedule, on March 14, 2026.”

Stepping Up Inspection and Supervision Ahead of the Elections
Despite certain challenges, localities have proactively addressed difficulties with timely guidance from city departments and agencies, ensuring that election preparations will be completed on schedule. By early February 2026, communes, wards, and special administrative zones had basically completed 24 of the 64 required tasks in accordance with legal provisions, despite the shortened preparation timeline requiring earlier completion than initially planned.
On January 12, 2026, the City Election Commission issued a plan to inspect election preparations for the elections. Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People’s Council, and Chairman of the City Election Commission Le Van Hieu emphasized that inspection activities require focus on key areas and coordination. The goal is to promptly resolve emerging issues, ensuring that election day truly becomes a festival of the entire people.
