The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city successfully organized the second consultative conference

With a spirit of urgency, seriousness, and responsibility, the second consultative conference was successfully organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city.

On the afternoon of February 2, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city convened the second consultative conference to reach agreement on the preliminary list of candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly for the 2026–2031 term and deputies to the 17th Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term.

The conference was chaired by Mr. Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city; Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city; and Mr. Dang Van Hach, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city.

Attending the conference were members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, including Mr. Dao Trong Duc, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Council and Deputy Chairman of the City Election Committee; and Mr. Vu Tien Phung, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee and Member of the City Election Committee.

At the conference, participants discussed and reached consensus on the preliminary list of candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly in Hai Phong City and candidates for deputies to the 17th Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term.

One hundred percent of the delegates present agreed to nominate 33 candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly who are residing and working in Hai Phong City, including 32 nominated candidates and one self-nominated candidate. Of these, 18 are women, 11 are young candidates, seven are non-Party members, and two are incumbent candidates seeking re-election.

One hundred percent of the delegates attending the conference also agreed on the number of 157 nominees for deputies to the 17th Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term. Among them are 73 women, 37 candidates under the age of 40, 20 non-Party members, and 50 incumbent candidates seeking re-election.

Relevant agencies, organizations, and units have submitted, in accordance with regulations, the minutes and summary profiles of the nominated and self-nominated candidates to the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city.

At the conference, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city announced the plan to organize conferences to collect comments and assess voter confidence at the place of residence for candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term across the city.

In accordance with regulations, the collection of comments and voter confidence at the place of residence will be conducted from February 4 to 8, 2026.

In his remarks at the conference, Mr. Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city, affirmed that the second consultative conference upheld a strong sense of responsibility and collective wisdom, featured frank and constructive discussions, and achieved a high level of consensus, while ensuring compliance with the principles of democratic consultation and the procedures and regulations of the election law.

The outcomes of the second consultative conference represent an important step in the consultative process for the election, laying the groundwork for the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city to continue implementing subsequent steps, thereby contributing to the successful organization of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term.

In the coming period, the workload of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations will be substantial. Immediately following the conference, relevant units need to coordinate in organizing the collection of opinions from voters at the place of residence for candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the 17th Hai Phong City People’s Council, as well as collecting opinions from voters at the workplace for self-nominated candidates. This will serve as the basis for preparing the third consultative conference to finalize the official list of candidates who meet the prescribed standards.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city expressed his hope to continue receiving attention, coordination, companionship, and support so that the the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city can successfully fulfill its assigned tasks.
