Candidate dossiers for National Assembly and Hai Phong City People’s Council deputies handed over

Immediately after the deadline for receiving applications, the Hai Phong City Election Committee handed over the dossiers of 33 candidates for the 16th National Assembly and 157 candidates for the Hai Phong City People’s Council.

At 6:00 p.m. on February 1, the Hai Phong City Election Committee held a conference to hand over the dossiers of candidates for the 16th National Assembly and for the Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term.

The conference was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City, and Ms. Sai Thi Yen, Member of the City Party Committee, Director of the Department of Home Affairs.

At the conference, the lists of summarized personal profiles, copies of brief biographies, and asset and income declaration forms of candidates for the 16th National Assembly and candidates for the Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term were handed over to the Standing Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City.

Regarding candidates for the 16th National Assembly, there are a total of 33 candidates, each with two sets of dossiers. Of these, 32 candidates were nominated by agencies and organizations, while one candidate is self-nominated.

As for candidates for the Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term, there are 157 candidates in total, each with one set of dossiers. All candidates were nominated by agencies and organizations, with no self-nominated candidates.

Earlier, by 5:00 p.m. on February 1 (the final deadline for receiving dossiers as prescribed), the Department of Home Affairs had drawn up a record marking the conclusion of the receipt of application dossiers for candidates for the 16th National Assembly and the Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City, stated that after 18 days of receiving candidate dossiers for the 16th National Assembly and the Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term (from December 15, 2025 to February 1, 2026), the receipt process had been completed on schedule, in accordance with procedures, and in full compliance with regulations.

Based on the dossiers handed over to the Standing Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan requested that the dossiers be promptly compiled, listed, and classified.

The Standing Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City will organize the second consultative conference to agree on the preliminary list of candidates, ensuring compliance with regulations and selecting qualified and deserving candidates who meet all eligibility criteria.

After the second consultative conference, conferences will be held to collect opinions from voters at the place of residence of the candidates. Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan requested that relevant units pay close attention to listening to voters’ opinions and assessments, emphasizing that this is a very important channel for selecting worthy candidates.

The Standing Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city will make every effort to organize the third consultative conference before the Lunar New Year to remain proactive and ensure progress.

Emphasizing that the upcoming tasks are of great importance, involve a heavy workload, and must strictly comply with regulations according to specific timelines, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan called on agencies and units to make strong, focused efforts to successfully organize the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, selecting outstanding and deserving representatives who truly represent the will and aspirations of voters and the people.
