Plan issued for implementing the 2026 CPTPP Chairmanship
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued Decision No. 141 on the plan to implement activities for Viet Nam’s assumption of the Chairmanship of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in 2026.

The Decision assigns coordination roles for discussions within the CPTPP framework and specific tasks for implementing activities related to Viet Nam’s assumption of the CPTPP Chairmanship in 2026.
The Decision also assigns specific responsibilities to units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in implementing the CPTPP Chairmanship in 2026. Accordingly, the Multilateral Trade Policy Department is responsible for leading the development of the overall meeting schedule for CPTPP sessions; leading and coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies to formulate the agenda for Viet Nam’s CPTPP Chairmanship in 2026; and leading and coordinating the organization of meetings, including the CPTPP Ministerial Council meeting, CPTPP ministerial-level meetings, Senior Officials’ Meetings (SOMs), Deputy Senior Officials’ Meetings (DSOs), accession negotiations with new applicant economies, and other technical-level meetings within its scope of responsibility.
In addition, the Department will take the lead in urging relevant ministries, sectors and units to update the status of CPTPP discussions within their respective mandates for consolidation; lead and coordinate with the Office of the Inter-ministerial Steering Committee on International Economic Integration in designing the logo and visual identity for CPTPP Viet Nam 2026 and submit them to the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for approval; and lead and coordinate with relevant units in developing press information related to the CPTPP Chairmanship in 2026, subject to approval by the Ministry’s leadership prior to public release.
Furthermore, the Decision assigns tasks to other units, including the Office of the Inter-ministerial Steering Committee on International Economic Integration; the Authority of E-commerce and Digital Economy; the National Competition Commission; the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency; the Department of Foreign Market Development; the Legal Department; Industry and Trade Newspaper; the Ministry Office; and the Department of Planning, Finance and Enterprise Management, among others.
