Hai Phong places fourth nationwide in National Excellent Student Examination

With 208 awards, Hai Phong ranked fourth nationwide in terms of the number of prizes at the National Excellent Student Examination for the 2025–2026 academic year. The results were announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on the afternoon of January 19.

Accordingly, Hai Phong delegation won a total of 208 awards among 242 city’s candidates attending the examination. Hai Phong placed fourth nationwide in the total number of awards. Ho Chi Minh City topped the rankings with 288 awards, followed by Ninh Binh with 238. Phu Tho ranked third, while Hanoi placed fifth with 207 awards.

mon-dia-ly(1).jpg — The Geography team of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted at the National Excellent Student Examination recorded a clean sweep, with two first prizes, two second prizes, two third prizes, and four consolation prizes.

Of the 208 awards won by Hai Phong, there were 9 first prizes, 68 second prizes, 71 third prizes, and 60 consolation prizes. Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted recorded 98 awards, including 5 first prizes, 32 second prizes, 34 third prizes, and 27 consolation prizes. Tran Phu High School for the Gifted had 109 awards, with 4 first prizes, 36 second prizes, 37 third prizes, and 32 consolation prizes. Bach Dang High School secured one consolation prize.

In terms of first prizes, Hai Phong ranked fifth nationwide with nine first prizes. Hanoi led the country with 26 first prizes, followed by Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with 15. Phu Tho ranked third with 11 first prizes, while Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, and Bac Ninh each won 10 first prizes, jointly placing fourth.

The National Excellent Student Examination for high school students in the 2025–2026 academic year was held on December 25 and 26, 2025, attracting more than 6,750 candidates from provinces and cities nationwide. Hai Phong sent 242 students to the examination, mainly from Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted and Tran Phu High School for the Gifted. Candidates competed in 13 subjects, including natural sciences, social sciences, and six foreign languages.
