14th National Party Congress opens in Hanoi
At exactly 8:00 a.m. on January 20, 2026, the 14th National Party Congress was solemnly opened at the National Convention Center in Hanoi.

The 14th National Congress of the Party has the theme: Under the Glorious Flag of the Party, Joining Hands and Acting in Unity to Successfully Achieve National Development Goals by 2030; Strategic Autonomy, Self-Reliance and Self-Confidence, Strong development in the Era of National Aspiration for Peace, Independence, Democracy, Prosperity, Civilization, Happiness, and Steadfast Progress toward Socialism.

The 14th Party Congress is tasked with reviewing the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress in association with summarizing 40 years of the Renewal process; affirming major and outstanding achievements; discussing and adopting orientations, objectives, key tasks and strategic breakthroughs for the 2026–2030 period, with a vision to 2045; conducting a thorough and comprehensive review of Party building and the building of a transparent and strong political system; and electing a new Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The 13th National Congress took place under special circumstances, with intertwined difficulties and numerous challenges. However, our Party has demonstrated its leadership capacity, unity, and solidarity, as well as its will and aspiration for development, future shaping, innovative thinking, and decisive action. Viet Nam has become a bright spot highly regarded by the world for safety and social stability, as well as for breakthroughs in thinking, vision, and new approaches to leadership and development management. The 14th National Party Congress sets the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and realizing the vision by 2045 of becoming a developed, high-income country, a peaceful, independent, democratic, strong, prosperous, civilized, and happy socialist Viet Nam. To achieve these goals, the Political Report identifies 12 major orientations, six key tasks, and three strategic breakthroughs, including breakthroughs in institutions and implementation, human resources, and synchronized, modern infrastructure.
The General Secretary emphasized that the 14th National Party Congress is a Congress of confidence and aspiration, of breakthroughs and action, of discipline and creativity, and of unity and development. The entire Paty has sufficient grounds to believe that with high unity in ideology, resolute action, strict discipline, and with the People truly at the center, the country will certainly move forward steadily in the era of national rise on the path toward building socialism.
