National Highway 17B–Dinh bridge route creates a regional connectivity axis
The route connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge plays a key role in completing northeastern Hai Phong’s transport infrastructure, contributing to congestion reduction and the expansion of development space.

Completing Infrastructure, Reducing Traffic Pressure
Currently, the route via Dinh Bridge remains the shortest and most convenient way to travel from National Highway 5 to the Thuy Nguyen area. However, urbanization and the increasing volume of vehicles have placed growing pressure on this route, especially during peak hours. Therefore, the commencement of the project connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge has been warmly welcomed by local residents.
The construction of the road connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge is of significant importance. It gradually completes the area’s transportation network according to urban planning, addresses traffic congestion and safety issues, eases pressure on existing urban roads, and simultaneously expands urban development space while promoting local socio-economic growth. The project is located in Kinh Mon and Nguyen Dai Nang Wards and is managed by the Tay Hai Phong Investment and Construction Project Management Board.
According to the design, the route is approximately 3.09 km long, starting at National Highway 17B in Kinh Mon Ward and ending at the Dinh Bridge access road in Nguyen Dai Nang Ward. The total investment of the project is over VND 266 billion, funded by the city’s budget.

When completed, the road will not only connect the western districts of the city with the Hai Phong Political-Administrative Center, but also help form a regional transportation corridor between Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, laying the groundwork for localities in the area to leverage their strategic location and promote socio-economic development.
Removing obstacles, ensuring construction progress
On August 19, 2025, the construction project of the road connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge was one of nine key projects inaugurated in Hai Phong City to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. The project is being carried out by the joint venture of KTĐ Sustainable Development Joint Stock Company, Viet Thanh Construction Limited Company, and Northern Thermal Power Repair Service Joint Stock Company.
According to the Tay Hai Phong Investment and Construction Project Management Board, as of now, approximately 1.7 km of the embankment at K98 has been completed out of the total 3.09 km; the Grade 2 crushed stone base layer has been completed for about 1.1 km. The section from Km1 to Km1+634 is temporarily halted to implement design adjustments, and the adjustment documents are currently being submitted to the Department of Construction for appraisal, serving as a basis for the next steps to ensure project consistency, quality, and overall progress.
According to the initial plan, the project was expected to be completed by December 2025. However, due to unfavorable weather conditions and prolonged heavy rainfall causing flooding at the construction site, some items had to be temporarily suspended, affecting the overall schedule. In response, the City People’s Committee approved an adjustment to the project timeline, allowing completion in 2026 to ensure the quality and technical requirements of the work.
