Hai Phong selected to launch 2026 Economic Census
Hai Phong has been chosen by the General Statistics Office (under the Ministry of Finance) to kick off the 2026 Economic Census, with data collection starting across the city.
The 2026 Economic Census, mandated by Decision No. 2837/QD-BTC dated August 18, 2025, and its implementation plan under Decision No. 3100/QD-BTC dated September 4, 2025, by the Minister of Finance. To ensure success, Haiphong's Statistics Office advised the city People's Committee to form a Steering Committee and a supporting task force in 2026.
The 2026 Economic Census aims to collect comprehensive data on all economic establishments. It will evaluate their growth in number, scale, and workforce; production and business performance; the level of IT adoption and digital transformation; as well as their structure and distribution by locality, industry, economic type, and ownership form.
The results will serve as a vital basis for management and policymaking by the Party, State, ministries, sectors, and localities. They will also support compiling key national statistics, especially the Gross domestic product (GDP), gross regional domestic product (GRDP), and many other socio-economic indicators.
