Connecting transport links, boosting development
With its strategic location as Northern Vietnam's key gateway, Hai Phong City boasts prime advantages for building synchronized, modern infrastructure to drive economic-social growth.

Unblocking vital arteries
Beyond Dinh and Quang Thanh bridges, the new East-West road and rail links forge tight trade flows. The National Highway 5 remains the backbone, while the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway serves as the main artery—linking the capital to the port city and enabling the East-West freight corridors.

Hai Phong Department of Constrution Director Nguyen Thanh Hung notes the City Party Committee and People's Committee closely oversee transport projects. During inspections, leaders urge contractors to adapt techniques, streamline construction amid weather and material price swings, and tighten critical paths to speed completion.
Clearing paths for growth

The Politburo’s Resolution Number 45 on Hai Phong's development to 2030, vision to 2045, and the Prime Minister's Decision Number 1516 approving the 2021-2030 master plan, vision to 2050, position Hai Phong as the North's and nation's growth engine. From this, the Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee prioritizes 32 key transport projects for 2026-2030, many inter-regional to boost socio-economic momentum.

Hai Phong's deep-water Lach Huyen port system, one of few worldwide for mega-container ships, expands connections domestically and internationally. Completing road, rail, and sea networks forms a multimodal transport web, sending goods directly to open seas and slashing routes to Asian, European, and American markets.
