Northeast monsoon affects Hai Phong
A strong cold air mass combined with the northeast monsoon is having a widespread impact on the northeastern region, including Hai Phong city.

According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, on December 25, the northern and north-central regions of Vietnam will continue to be affected by cold air, with northeast winds of force 3 inland and force 4 – 5 along coastal areas, with gusts in some places reaching force 6 – 7. Cold conditions will prevail, while the northern mountainous areas will experience severe cold, with some places facing extreme cold.
Today and tomorrow morning, the northern region, along with Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, will see rain and scattered showers, with a risk of thunderstorms in some areas. The lowest temperatures are expected to range from 12 to 15 degrees Celsius in the plains; lower in mountainous areas, from 10 to 13 degrees Celsius, and even below 8 degrees Celsius in high-altitude locations.
At sea, strong northeast winds is forecast to continue causing rough conditions. At Bach Long Vi station in Hai Phong, strong northeast winds of force 6 have been recorded, with gusts reaching force 7.
In the Gulf of Tonkin, winds will reach force 6 – 7, with gusts of force 8 – 9, and waves 2.5 – 3.5 m high. In the northern East Sea, including the Hoang Sa area, winds will be stronger at force 7 – 8, with gusts of force 9, and waves rising to 3 – 5 m.
The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting warned that severe and extreme cold conditions could affect public health, livestock and crops, especially in high mountainous areas.
Residents in the northern and north-central regions are advised to closely monitor weather forecasts, take proactive measures to protect against the cold, safeguard livestock, and limit outdoor activities during periods of strong winds.
