Strengthening cooperation between Vietnam - China customs
Customs units are coordinating more and more effectively, facilitating import and export activities between Vietnam and China.

The 16th talks between several units of Vietnam Customs and China’s Kunming Customs are taking place in Hai Phong from December 22 to 24.
The talks aim to review the results of cooperation over the past time and agree on coordination orientations for the coming period. The Lao Cai – Ha Noi – Hai Phong railway project is identified as one of the key areas of cooperation.
Through the mechanism of regular talks, the customs units have gradually built trust, mutual understanding, and increasingly effective coordination in border management and control; improved the customs clearance environment; and facilitated import and export activities and economic exchanges between Vietnam and China.

The two sides signed the minutes of the 16th talks and agreed to strengthen exchanges and share information on new policies related to import and export activities, particularly those directly affecting cargo clearance time.
They also agreed to step up coordination in preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal cross-border transportation of goods; maximize the clearance capacity of international intermodal transport routes; and enhance cooperation and exchanges of experience in technology application, training, artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and the use of container scanners.
Dang Cong Thanh, Deputy Director of the Customs Department of Region III and head of the Vietnamese delegation, emphasized that the participation of the Kunming Customs delegation demonstrated a stable, solid, and increasingly in-depth cooperative relationship between the customs authorities of Vietnam and China.

He noted that the Lao Cai – Ha Noi – Hai Phong railway project is a strategic one receiving special attention from the leaders of both countries. Once completed and put into operation, the railway will create a new cross-border transport axis, helping reduce transport time and costs, while also posing new requirements for the organization and management model of customs operations at international railway border gates.
In this context, close, proactive, and substantive coordination between the two customs authorities is of key importance, contributing to smooth, effective, and law-compliant customs clearance procedures.
Within the framework of the working visit, the Kunming Customs delegation visited the Hateco Haiphong International Container Terminal and held professional exchanges with the Dinh Vu Port Border Gate Customs.
