Smart city training course deepens Hai Phong – Singapore cooperation
The five-day training course acts as a bridge to deepen the cooperation already underway between Hai Phong and Singapore in investment, trade, seaports, and industrial park infrastructure.

The Hai Phong Department of Science and Technology, in coordination with the Vietnam – Singapore Cooperation Center, held the closing session of the training course “Smart City: IoT Solutions and Digital Government Transformation Strategies” in Hai Phong on December 5.

From December 1 to 5, 30 trainees who are leaders and specialists in charge of information technology and digital transformation at municipal departments and agencies were equipped with an overview of e-government and digital transformation strategies; an introduction to the Internet of Things (IoT), the core platform of Singapore’s smart nation; and practical technologies and experiences for achieving smart nation goals and promoting the development of a knowledge-based economy.

Speaking at the closing session, Nguyen Cao Thang, Director of the city Department of Science and Technology, stressed that the training course was not only an activity for learning, exchange, and knowledge sharing, but also a bridge to intensify and deepen the cooperation already underway between Hai Phong and Singapore in investment, trade, seaports, and industrial park infrastructure. It also helps realize cooperation potential and strengths that have yet to be tapped, especially in science and technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.
According to the Department of Science and Technology, Hai Phong is one of six localities selected by the Government Steering Committee for Science and Technology Development, Innovation, and Digital Transformation to implement and develop the Smart City Scheme.

Hai Phong also ranked third nationwide in the 2024 Digital Transformation Index (DTI) at provincial level, achieving maximum scores in digital awareness and digital institutions.
The results of the training course are expected to strengthen Hai Phong’s capacity to implement key tasks and create new momentum for the city to realize its smart city development goals in line with the Government’s orientation.
