Hai Phong opens training course on smart cities

The course will equip trainees with updated strategies, trends, digital transformation methods and international lessons learned on smart cities.

The Hai Phong People’s Committee, in cooperation with the Vietnam – Singapore Cooperation Center, opened the training course “Smart City: Internet of Things Solutions and E-Government Transformation Strategies” on December 1.

Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Vu Tien Phung and Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Rajpal Singh, together with leaders of relevant departments and sectors, attended the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Phung said Hai Phong is the second locality, after Ho Chi Minh city, to be proposed by the Singaporean Embassy to host a digital transformation training course directly at the local level.

This activity is a vivid and concrete demonstration of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Singapore, as well as the close, friendly and effective relationship between Hai Phong and Singapore.

The Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee assessed that this is a practical activity contributing to the realization of Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, and toward the goal of developing Hai Phong into a modern, smart and sustainable city of regional significance in Southeast Asia by 2030.

The training course is taking place over five days, from December 1 to 5.

The course gathers 30 trainees who are leaders and specialists in charge of information technology and digital transformation from departments and agencies across the city. They will be provided with an overview of e-government and digital transformation strategies; an introduction to the Internet of Things - the core platform of Singapore’s smart nation model; and practical technologies and experiences to achieve smart nation goals and promote the development of a knowledge-based economy.
