Free cataract surgery for 500 workers and relatives in Hai Phong

39 workers and their relatives received free cataract surgery on the first day of the program.

A representative of the Ha Noi – Hai Phong Eye Hospital presents 500 free cataract surgery slots to trade union members and workers in the city.

The Hai Phong Confederation of Labor, in coordination with the Ha Noi – Hai Phong Eye Hospital, launched a program offering free cataract surgery for workers and their relatives in the city on November 28.

On the first day of the program, 39 workers and their relatives underwent specialized examinations, consultations with ophthalmology experts and necessary tests.

Eligible patients received phacoemulsification cataract surgery using the latest-generation Centurion system from the US, with imported intraocular lenses from Europe or Japan.

The patients were also provided with nutritious breakfast and lunch on the day of surgery, prescribed postoperative medication, follow-up examinations as required, protective eyewear and a free six-month follow-up package. The total value of each surgical package is 16 million VND.

As planned, the program will take place throughout November and December 2025 at the Ha Noi – Hai Phong Eye Hospital.

The program is intended for 500 trade union members, workers and their relatives (biological parents and parents-in-law) diagnosed with cataracts and indicated for surgery, with priority given to union members in difficult circumstances who hold health insurance cards.

The initiative aims to realize the trade union’s policy of “Ensuring welfare for trade union members.”
