Hai Phong solemnly opens 10th Sports Festival
The 10th Hai Phong Sports Festival for 2025 – 2026 is a major sporting event held after the merger of Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province.

The opening ceremony of the 10th Hai Phong Sports Festival solemnly took place at Lach Tray Stadium on the evening of November 28.

Attending the ceremony were Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Colonel Luong Cao Khai, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command.

Representing the leadership of Hai Phong were Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau; Standing Deputy Secretary of the city Party Committee Do Manh Hien; Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau; Chairman of the city Fatherland Front Committee Pham Van Lap; and Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Hung.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee and Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, affirmed that this is a major sporting event held after the merger of Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province to evaluate and acknowledge the development of sports movements across sectors and localities, and to select athletes to compete at the 10th National Sports Festival in 2025–2026.

The opening ceremony gathered a total of 7,871 participants, including 3,182 athletes from communes, wards, special zones, sectors and units representing the city’s athletes and referees, reflecting the vibrancy, solidarity and strength of Hai Phong’s sports movements.

The program included a parade featuring 47 groups with 3,282 participants, ceremonial activities and a mass artistic performance.
The 10th Hai Phong Sports Festival is taking place from November 2025 to May 2026 with delegations from 114 wards, communes, special zones and the police and military sectors. Teams will compete in 18 official sports: table tennis, football, volleyball, chess, Chinese chess, badminton, running, track and field, swimming, aerobics, bodybuilding, pencak silat, karate, traditional martial arts, taekwondo, freestyle wrestling, shuttlecock, and tug of war, along with seven additional celebratory events.

The Hai Phong Sports Festival, a sporting occasion for all sectors, social organizations and residents of the city, has been held every four years since 1984 – 1985.
