New directions for businesses
At a technology supply–demand connection session between Hai Phong and South Korean businesses recently held by the city Department of Science and Technology, Nguyen Van Dinh, Director of En Vang International JSC., said the solutions proposed by the South Korean side are highly practical and useful for Hai Phong’s development. Technology applications will help transport businesses like his reduce costs, improve service quality, and create sustainable competitive advantages, especially by providing a new direction in green transition and digitalization of business operations.
Seo Hey Jung, team leader of the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), assessed that Hai Phong is undergoing rapid digital transformation, has a young and highly potential workforce, and expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with Hai Phong businesses for mutual development.

A milestone in science and technology cooperation between Hai Phong and South Korea was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the city People’s Committee and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) on November 7. This is a leading research partner in Asia, backing many of South Korea’s top technology enterprises.
At the conference, Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau stressed: “Hai Phong identifies science, technology and innovation as a key driver for rapid and sustainable development. Cooperation with KIST will help the city access core technologies and advanced knowledge-management models, thereby realizing its aspiration to become a leading science and technology hub in the region.”

Dr. Oh Sang Rok, KIST President, said Hai Phong has all the necessary conditions to grow into a major R&D center of Vietnam. “KIST is committed to accompanying the city in building an innovation ecosystem, promoting joint research and technology transfer and supporting start-ups, bringing scientific achievements into practical production and creating sustainable value for both sides,” Dr. Oh Sang Rok added.
Creating breakthroughs in technology transfer
“Accessing advanced technologies from South Korea, a global leader in semiconductors, AI and green technology, is an urgent requirement. Our department is committed to providing the most favorable conditions for effective connections between businesses on both sides, from exchanges to signing of cooperation agreements and substantive technology transfer,” said Le Luong Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology.

In the context of Vietnam and South Korea upgrading their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, technology cooperation between Hai Phong and South Korea is opening up unprecedented development opportunities. From supply–demand matching sessions and the introduction of specific technologies into businesses to the cooperation memorandum with KIST, a strategic regional-level technology center is beginning to take shape.
These results help Hai Phong businesses improve their competitiveness and, more importantly, create the conditions for the city to advance digital economy development, high-tech industry, green transition and innovation, the pillars of growth in the new period.
