Racing against time on construction sites in Hai Phong
With just over one month left before 2025 ends, workers across construction projects in Hai Phong are racing day and night to ensure the works are completed on schedule.
Busy and urgent
At the construction site of a road section from Hoa river bridge to provincial road 354, work is progressing at a rapid pace.
Dinh Dac Phuong, chief commander of the site from Xuan Thanh Development Co., Ltd., said the unit will complete the project by December 15, ahead of the deadline set by the Hai Phong People’s Committee, to serve local travel demand.
The contractor is coordinating closely with the supervising consultant to strictly control vehicles, material quality and construction techniques, ensuring labor and traffic safety under the current around-the-clock working conditions.
Following Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau’s direction, the construction unit is accelerating progress to open traffic on a bypass of national highway 37 through Gia Loc commune, connecting to Thong Nhat bridge, national highway 37 and ring road I before 2026 Lunar New Year.
Bui Danh Bien, Director of Phuong Hoang Construction and Trading JSC., the project’s contractor, said the unit had mobilized maximum machinery, equipment and materials. As soon as the local authorities hand over any portion of land, the contractor begins work immediately. At the site, teams are urgently carrying out roadbed filling, base stone spreading and drainage installation.
By November 20, the completed construction volume had reached 40% of the plan. Once finished, the project will help ease traffic pressure and open up development space for Gia Loc commune and nearby localities.
Ensuring quality and disbursement requirements
The Hai Phong Party and People’s Committees have recently issued close and specific directions for transport infrastructure projects, creating significant improvements and impressive results. During most site inspections, city leaders required construction units and contractors to adopt creative solutions to accelerate progress and make up for delays caused by weather conditions and rising material prices. For every project, critical path schedules are reviewed and optimized to shorten construction time as much as possible.
Despite the need for speed, construction units remain committed to ensuring project quality, workplace safety and environmental sanitation. They do not skip procedures, technical processes or use substandard materials just to keep pace with the schedule.
For instance, construction packages for Nguyen Trai bridge are being carried out through the night and during holidays, but worker safety remains the top priority. “All workers are fully equipped with protective gear. Before and after each shift, they are checked for compliance with safety regulations,” said Han Van Khoa, safety officer of the Institute of Transport Science and Technology.
A series of the city’s key projects are being accelerated, contributing significantly to making Hai Phong a “bright spot” and one of the leading localities nationwide in public investment disbursement in 2025.
