Hai Phong, China’s Guangxi eye stronger cooperation
Hai Phong city and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China have maintained a long-standing and positive cooperative relationship.
Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau received and held talks with a delegation from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, led by Wei Tao, Chairman of the region government, on November 25.
Welcoming the delegation, Chairman Le Ngoc Chau expressed his pleasure at the increasingly consolidated and comprehensively developing Vietnam – China relationship. Hai Phong city and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have enjoyed a long-standing and fruitful partnership.
To further promote and deepen cooperation between Hai Phong and Guangxi across various fields, Chairman Le Ngoc Chau proposed that the two sides continue maintaining high-level delegation exchanges through Party and government channels. Delegations from departments, sectors and business communities should also conduct visits and working sessions to expand, deepen and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the two localities.
With nearly 800 Chinese-invested projects operating in Hai Phong, the demand for high-quality human resources proficient in Chinese is significant. The city hopes to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in education and training; promote bilateral trade and logistics connectivity, including the construction of a standard-gauge railway linking Mong Cai – Ha Long – Hai Phong.
The two sides should enhance connectivity and shipping routes between Lach Huyen port in Hai Phong and the ports of Beihai, Fangcheng and Qinzhou in China to jointly develop port clusters of each side. Additional cargo and passenger transport routes between the two localities should be opened. The two sides will also promote tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
Expressing his gratitude for Hai Phong’s warm reception, Wei Tao, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region government, noted his positive impression of the city’s socio-economic development and infrastructure achievements over the past time.
Agreeing with Chairman Le Ngoc Chau’s cooperation proposals, Wei Tao suggested that both sides continue strengthening friendly exchanges to expand cooperation; coordinate to accelerate the progress of building the standard-gauge railway to develop high-speed rail transport, thereby generating substantial benefits for both sides. He also emphasized the need to further enhance cooperation in logistics, seaports, AI, trade, culture and education.
