Hai Phong students win first prize at national innovation contest
With a project on smart waste classification, a group of five students in Hai Phong city have won first prize at the 2025 National Youth and Children Innovation Contest.

The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, in coordination with the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the Ministry of Science and Technology, has held the closing ceremony and award presentation for the 2025 National Youth and Children Innovation Contest.
This year’s contest attracted 847 projects from 34 provinces and cities. It continued to focus on five areas: learning aids; environmentally friendly products; technical solutions in response to climate change, environmental protection and economic development; computer software; household utensils and toys for children.
The project “Solar-powered smart waste classification system” by Doan Gia Thinh, Bui Bao Han, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai, Nguyen Thao Nhi and Bui Ngoc Ha Phuong from Chu Van An Junior High School in Hai Phong city was one of the five first-prize winners.
The organizers also awarded 10 second prizes, 30 third prizes and 60 consolation prizes.
