Promoting efficiency

Thanks to the new-style rural building program, by late 2024, the road linking Cau market in Vinh An commune with national highway 10 and Vinh Thinh commune had been upgraded and widened to 7 m, twice its former width, and put into use. The upgraded road helps improve traffic safety and strengthen connectivity between national highway 10 and the communes of Vinh Thinh, An Hoa and Vinh Thuan.

Alongside rural transport projects, many bridges and field roads serving production have also received investment.

Nguyen Van Tiu, Principal of Dung Tien Junior High School in Vinh Thuan commune, said that under the model new-style rural building program, the deteriorated and unsafe Cua Hang bridge over Dong Ngu canal has been rebuilt, providing safer and more convenient travel for residents of Dong Quang hamlet and more than 600 students of the school, while helping ease traffic congestion.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, thousands of model new-style rural projects have been completed and put into use across the city, generating positive results. In western Hai Phong alone, more than 13,600 km of roads of various types were upgraded or built, creating momentum for agricultural production and ensuring smooth goods transport for producers year-round.

Driving economic restructuring

Nhờ các công trình nông thôn mới được đầu tư, trên địa bàn thành phố phát triển được nhiều vùng sản xuất hàng hóa tập trung quy mô lớn.
Thanks to investments in new-style rural projects, the city has formed several large-scale concentrated production zones

After the merger with Hai Duong province, Hai Phong has new development space, in which rural areas hold significant potential in land and labor for forming new industrial parks, industrial clusters and concentrated agricultural production zones. These are favorable conditions for the city to define strategic directions for new-style rural areas in the 2026 – 2030 period.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Pham Thi Dao, during 2021–2025, the city has prioritized breakthrough new-style rural projects to ensure the highest level of benefits for residents, focusing on transport, schools, healthcare and cultural facilities.

Relevant agencies are now advising the city People’s Committee on development goals for the next phase of new-style rural development. The emphasis is on building synchronized infrastructure linking rural and urban areas; applying information technology and modernizing rural areas; developing a circular rural economy; leveraging specialties and local advantages; and preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.

From 2021 to 2025, Hai Phong has invested more than 117 trillion VND in new-style rural infrastructure. This funding enabled the completion of more than 3,000 projects, mainly transport, healthcare, education and cultural facilities, which are now delivering positive results.
