Hai Phong strengthens cooperation with Dutch partners

Hai Phong currently hosts 16 Dutch projects with a total investment of 361 million USD.

Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau received and worked with Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Aukje de Vries and a delegation of Dutch enterprises on the afternoon of November 11 to promote investment and cooperation in seaports and logistics.

Also attending the meeting were Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam Kees van Baar and representatives of related departments, agencies, and units in the city and the Hai Phong Logistics Association.

Chairman Le Ngoc Chau affirmed that the Netherlands is one of Vietnam’s and Hai Phong’s important European partners.

As of now, the Netherlands has had 16 foreign direct investment projects in Hai Phong with a total capital of 361 million USD, ranking 12th in the number of projects and 11th in foreign investment in the city.

Hai Phong has also received and participated in numerous events organized by the Dutch Government, Embassy, and Business Association both in Vietnam and in Hai Phong.

Chairman Le Ngoc Chau expressed his belief that the working visit by Minister Aukje de Vries and the Dutch business delegation would help boost investment cooperation, leading to concrete and effective projects, particularly in port and logistics development, while further deepening the fine partnership between Hai Phong and the Netherlands.

At the meeting, representatives of Dutch corporations and enterprises praised Hai Phong’s strategic location and economic potential following its administrative merger, highlighting its deep-water port system, dynamic industrial parks and economic zones, as well as its open and transparent investment policies. The Dutch side expressed its desire for long-term cooperation with Hai Phong in areas of mutual strength.

Minister Aukje de Vries affirmed that Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular are attractive destinations for Dutch businesses, especially in logistics, seaports, and infrastructure development. She expressed her hope that the two sides would strengthen exchanges, business connections, and experience sharing in seaport planning and development, logistics, and other potential fields in the future.

Both sides agreed to maintain a regular information exchange mechanism and promote the development of specific cooperation programs in the coming time.
