Caring for workers at year end
As the year draws to a close, Hai Phong enters a special season of sharing and connection, dedicated to workers in industrial parks, factories, and ports.

Support from grassroots level
Toward the end of the year, workloads at factories and enterprises increase, making life more demanding for workers. Understanding this, authorities, departments, and trade unions at all levels in Hai Phong have taken early action.
Since the beginning of the fourth quarter, many businesses have reviewed workers’ living conditions, wages, and bonuses. Quiet but practical meetings between trade unions and business representatives have been held, all with one goal: ensuring no worker is left behind.
“I have just received a savings book worth 6 million VND from the trade union and the company. It’s a great joy for my family and gives me more motivation to overcome difficulties and feel secure at work,” emotionally said Tran Thi Hang, an employee at MK2 Factory of Makalot Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. in Ha Tay commune.
Hang is among 82 trade union members and workers in difficult circumstances at Makalot Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. who were given savings books. This has become an annual activity of the company and the trade union every October to express appreciation for workers.

In addition to savings books, the company allocates 300 - 400 million VND each year for a year-end “lucky draw” program. The prizes are practical household items that make daily life easier for workers.
In recent years, taking care of workers before Tet (Lunar New Year) in Hai Phong has gone beyond material support. Trade unions at all levels have also strengthened supervision of enterprises’ salary and bonus payments to prevent wage arrears or delays before Tet.
A lasting support
As planned, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will mobilize all possible resources to ensure all trade union members and workers can enjoy a joyful, safe, and healthy 2026 Tet.
At the national level, delegations will visit and deliver Tet gifts to workers in enterprises, industrial parks, export processing zones, remote areas, and sectors with hard or hazardous work conditions, or those affected by natural disasters. Each Tet gift is expected to be worth 1.3 million VND.

For 2026 Tet, trade unions across the country are expected to mobilize around 6 trillion VND to support members and workers, a 10 – 15% increase in scale and funding compared with last year.
Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Vice Chairwoman of the Hai Phong Confederation of Labor, said the unit plans to provide gifts, allowances, and bus tickets for about 60,000 migrant workers from localities 150 km away or farther. In addition to trade unions’ budget, the confederation intends to propose that the city People’s Committee provide 20 billion VND to support workers during Tet.
One major event planned by the confederation in the fourth quarter is a job fair held in both the eastern and western parts of the city, with 400 businesses participating. The event demonstrates trade unions’ partnership with enterprises and expands employment opportunities, especially for informal workers.
The program aims to serve as an effective bridge between employees and employers, helping address year-end employment needs, promote sustainable labor restructuring, and meet the city’s and nation’s socio-economic development goals.
