Sweden seeks to expand cooperation and investment in Hai Phong
Hai Phong has attracted three FDI projects from Sweden with a total investment of more than 48 million USD.

Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received Sara Modig, Deputy Minister of Energy, Business and Industry of Sweden, and a delegation of Swedish enterprises during their working visit to the city on November 3.
Also attending the meeting were Johan Ndisi, Ambassador of Sweden to Vietnam, along with representatives of relevant departments and agencies.
Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong said the city is now home to three Swedish FDI projects worth over 48 million USD. The import-export turnover between Hai Phong and Swedish partners has maintained steady growth, reaching more than 160 million USD in 2024 and over 120 million USD in the first nine months of 2025.

Notably, in September 2024, the city Department of Industry and Trade signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sweden’s Port of Gothenburg to promote cooperation in export-import and logistics services. Both sides are actively implementing programs and activities under the MoU framework, aiming to build a sustainable logistics system and promote digital transformation in the logistics sector.
Vice chairman Cuong emphasized that Hai Phong highly values Swedish enterprises for their transparent management philosophy, advanced technology, and sustainable development orientation, qualities that align with the city’s development strategy.

He expressed hope that more Swedish businesses will come to explore, invest, and expand operations in Hai Phong in the near future. The city is committed to accompanying foreign investors with a spirit of reliable cooperation, shared benefits, and long-term development, while ensuring a transparent investment environment, favorable administrative procedures, and modern industrial and logistics infrastructure.
On behalf of the delegation, Deputy Minister Sara Modig highlighted that the visit provided a better understanding of Hai Phong’s development potential and the deepening cooperation between Sweden and the city.

She said Hai Phong is not only a potential market but also an important partner for Sweden in infrastructure and logistics development. The partnership between Hai Phong Port and the Port of Gothenburg opens up many opportunities for trade cooperation and experience sharing in green transition and digitalization, especially in sustainable seaport infrastructure development, toward helping Hai Phong become a leading maritime hub in the region.
Modig affirmed that Sweden will strengthen cooperation with Hai Phong in the coming time and create favorable conditions for Swedish businesses to expand investment and business operations in the city, thereby promoting sustainable development and bringing mutual benefits to both sides.
