National Elite Table Tennis Tournament kicks off in Hai Phong

The National Elite Table Tennis Tournament brings together 42 of Vietnam’s best male and female players.

The Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Elite Table Tennis Tournament at the gymnasium of the city Sports Training and Competition Center on October 27.

Attending the opening ceremony were Nguyen Xuan Vu, Chairman of the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation; representatives of the city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and 42 elite players from Hai Phong, the Army, Ho Chi Minh city, the People’s Public Security T&T, Ha Noi, Khanh Hoa, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang and Lam Dong.

The tournament serves as an opportunity to select the best athletes for the national team in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games later this year. It is also an important rehearsal for local teams ahead of the 10th National Sports Games in 2026.

Hai Phong’s table tennis team has eight players (six men and two women) aiming to win at least one bronze medal at the tournament.

Preliminary matches take place on the morning and afternoon of October 27 before the opening ceremony

The competition runs until October 31, featuring men’s and women’s singles events.
