Hai Phong taps into potential of Halal market
Hai Phong needs to leverage its advantages in tourism, diverse transport systems, and rich natural and cultural attractions to effectively unlock the vast potential of the Halal market.

The Hai Phong Department of Science and Technology held a conference on October 10 to introduce Halal standards for Muslim customers as part of Techfest Haiphong 2025.
Representatives from the city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with experts and businesses in logistics, hospitality, and food sectors, shared insights into the global potential of the Halal industry.

Accordingly, the global Halal economy is valued at over 7 trillion USD and expected to exceed 10 trillion USD by 2030. By then, the world is projected to welcome more than 230 million Muslim tourists annually, accounting for nearly 30% of global travelers, with total travel spending exceeding 300 billion USD each year.
To make the most of this promising market, Hai Phong should capitalize on its strengths in tourism, well-developed transportation networks, and scenic landscapes to attract visitors from Muslim countries.

The city should focus on developing Halal-certified restaurants, hotels, and specialized Halal tourism products designed specifically for Muslim travelers. It is also important to strengthen international promotion and market outreach through trade fairs, exhibitions, international airlines, etc.
Beyond tourism, the Halal sector holds significant potential in logistics and food industries. Hai Phong can take advantage of its modern industrial infrastructure with industrial parks, cold storage systems, container ports, and logistics zones to develop a Halal industrial cluster.
With its seaports and international airport, Hai Phong also has the capacity to become an ideal gateway for exporting Halal products to Malaysia, Indonesia, the Middle East, and the EU.
