In his opening remarks, FIATA President Turgut Erkeskin emphasized that hosting the FIATA World Congress 2025 in Ha Noi demonstrates the international community’s confidence in Vietnam, a rising logistics hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
Vietnam possesses favorable conditions to become a gateway for global supply chains, particularly through strong investments in seaport infrastructure, logistics centers, and multimodal transport solutions, he said.

According to Erkeskin, FIATA is committed to accompanying Vietnam in initiatives related to green ports, smart logistics, and global finance–trade connectivity.
Speaking at the plenary session, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong highlighted that Hai Phong, a centrally governed grade-I city, is one of the country’s leading industrial, seaport, and logistics centers, with the third-largest economy in Vietnam. It is the only locality in the North that possesses all five modes of transport, road, rail, sea, air, and inland waterway, serving as a gateway for trade in the Northern coastal region and a key connection point between Vietnam–China economic corridor.

He added that Hai Phong’s logistics system currently covers more than 700 ha of warehouses, with an annual growth rate of 20 – 23%, contributing 13 – 15% to the city’s GRDP. As planned, by 2030, the city’s total logistics area will expand to 1,700 – 2,000 ha, aiming to establish the Dinh Vu – Cat Hai International Logistics Center along with regional and specialized centers.
Particularly, under the National Assembly’s Resolution No. 226 dated June 27, 2025 on special mechanisms for Hai Phong’s development, the city will pilot a free trade zone model integrating a non-tariff zone, a high-tech industrial park, and a logistics, finance–trade, banking, and R&D center, opening up a new, modern, and internationally competitive institutional space.

The FIATA World Congress 2025 runs for five days (October 6 – 10) with a series of discussions, conferences, and specialized exhibitions, aiming to promote green transformation, enhance the adaptability of supply chains, and reaffirm the role of logistics in sustainable development. This is the largest annual event of the global logistics industry and is being held in Vietnam for the first time.
As a pioneer in green and sustainable logistics development, Hai Phong has two exhibition booths at the National Convention Center to promote the image of a modern Hai Phong city with great potential and advantages in investment, trade, industry, and logistics.
