Unique cultural event
The 2025 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival is scheduled for October 1 - 12. According to Nguyen Quang Phuc, Head of the Hai Phong Party Committee’s Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the festival not only commemorates national predecessors but also is an opportunity for the city to promote the UNESCO’s recognition of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac complex as a world cultural heritage site.
“This year’s festival has a new stature. It is an opportunity to affirm Hai Phong’s position on the international heritage map, while opening up the chance for Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site to become an international spiritual tourism destination,” Phuc emphasized.
This year’s festival also commemorates the 725th death anniversary of National Hero Tran Hung Dao and the 583rd death anniversary of Nguyen Trai, adding even more meaning of gratitude and remembrance to the festival.
Besides, the festival will be held right after the 1st Hai Phong Party Congress – a landmark political event reflecting the city’s determination to realize its new development policy: turning Hai Phong into a socialist city, a cultural center, and an international tourism hub.

The 2025 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival is expected to have a completely new look as it scale will be expanded significantly, with 3 - 4 activities taking place consecutively every day, creating a vibrant, continuous, and captivating festive atmosphere.
The ceremonial space will be extended to the Luc Dau river, which bears the glorious marks of the Tran Dynasty’s victories, making rituals more majestic and sacred than ever.
In addition, a special art program titled “Hai Phong – Quintessence of the heritage land” will be elaborately staged, combining singing, dancing, music, and modern 3D mapping projection technology to deliver spectacular visual effects that both honor traditional values and resonate with contemporary life.
Another highlight is the 9-day Culture, Tourism, and Trade Promotion Week, showcasing OCOP products, cuisine, traditional craft villages, and new tour packages. These new tourism products will not only enrich visitors’ experiences but also reflect the city’s professionalism and long-term strategic vision.
Furthermore, community activities such as folk art performances, cultural exchanges, and exhibitions of local tourism products at the Nguyen Trai memorial site have contributed to bringing heritage closer to the people and visitors.
According to Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this year’s festival program has been meticulously and professionally developed. Both ceremonial and festive parts were upgraded in scale and standardized in rituals, worthy of world cultural heritage, while still maintaining solemnity and tradition.
The highlight of the festival will be on October 7, with a series of key activities like a commemoration ceremony, the festival opening ceremony, a seal opening ceremony at Kiep Bac temple, and a large-scale art program, considered the “golden highlight” of the entire festival season.
With its scale, content, and meaningful message, the festival promises to be an unmissable cultural and spiritual venue, contributing to affirming Hai Phong as a shining heritage land on the path of international integration.
